Barnard College

Today we visited Barnard College and Columbia University, both located in Manhattan. We rode the 7 train and the 1 train to get to our destination. We first went to Barnard. When we got there we went to get our tour guide. We visited the dorms first. The dorm we visited had a bunk bed, a single bed, two desks, closets, and dressers. The tour guide told us that normal dorms usually don't have bunk beds, they usually have two single beds. Next we sat down outside next to this big lawn, that (our tour guide told us) were sometimes used for bbqs and celebrations.
  Barnard looks a lot at the personality of the students accepted. They want to know what kind of person you are.They also look at the transcript. The average GPA is 3.5, but they accept students with lower GPA's. The average SAT score is 670 per section, but again they accept students who have scored lower. They don't look so much at the SAT's. They understand that during freshman year the student GPA might not be that high but like like to see an upward trend. They need to know the student is getting better before they are accepted in to school. They like students to be honest about everything. For example if you were ever suspended they want you to be upfront about it rather than cover it up.
  I think i would apply to Barnard. I like that it is close to home but not too close. I'm not sure if i like that it is an all girl school though. It is good because it is less distractions i also would like to see guys in college.
