Stony Brook University

Our Rensizzle group visited Stony Brook University today, which is located in Long Island, New York. We caught the LIRR train in 61st street, Woodside. The train came on time, unlike the regular subway trains. Well, we had to transfer from one train to another to get to Stony Brook; the ride took about an hour and a half. When we reached our destination, it was easy to spot the university. We took the time to visit many of the buildings, such as the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics, Humanities, Earth and Space Sciences, Medical Center, Gymnasium, Library, and the dorms, which we only got to see the outside view. I like how the campus was very spacious and that there were many places you could sit down. You could either sit down in the grass or at the table with the chairs. Furthermore, I noticed that inside the libraries and most of the other buildings that there were many uses of light. The roofs were orientated in a certain way so that there was enough light given to the room inside. I did not like how the seats were oriented in the library. At the same time, I liked that the library was quiet and an easy place to concentrate on your studies, because some local libraries in New York are not as quiet as the one in Stony Brook. I also admired the way that the Medical Health building was built. With this self-tour we had, I would like to apply to this school based on the majors that the school provides, because I think that it can help me achieve my goals in the future. Overall, I think it was a good experience to have a self-tour around the Stony Brook University campus even if we had to rush to get to the LIRR station.

Stoney Brook

On Monday, our Renisizzle Group visited Stony Brook College in Long Island, New York. We traveled by taking the LIRR at 61-Woodside. Stop by stop we eventually got there. It took about one hour and a half to go there and get back. However, it was worth it while it lasted. We saw different parts of the school. We saw the Light Engineering, Heavy Engineering, Simons Center for Geometry and Physics, Humanities, Earth and Space Sciences, Medical Center, Dorms from the outside, Gymnasium, Library, and, the Bookstore. It seemed like most students studied medicine, business, engineering, and, etc. It's a type of science school. So, if you don't like science, you shouldn't step foot in there. It's a competitive SUNY and is very diverse.  Since, it was finals week we couldn’t really experience seeing the real college life. However,  what I like most about this school is the environment. For example, if you wanted to study you can choose to be outside in the light studying or inside a quiet place inside. Whatever your choice is, you will feel comfortable. The people around there also seem very nice unlike in any other place you would step in.  I wouldn’t apply to this school because it doesn’t have things that interest me as for a major that I would like to study. I would like to study something completely different from Stony Brook. Then again, that’s just me. Other people should apply if it is what they really desire for their future.Overall, it was a great experience for a day.

Stony Brook University

Today we visited Stony Brook University in Long Island, New York. As a group we traveled to Stony Brook by taking the LIRR at 61-Woodside. The ride was about a hour and a half long. When we arrived at the school, we visited the Student Activity Center. The school store was located inside the activity center and there was also a information desk for visitors. As we were exiting the building we saw a group of girls having a tea party in celebration of their friends birthday. During our time in Stony Brook we also visited their gymnasium, book store, library, and the health center buildings. I liked these buildings because they were very clean and well kept. The book store and library was very helpful ans had all resources students needed. There were also signs hung up around campus, in many different languages which was another thing I liked about the college. As we walked around campus I realized that there is not a large diversity of race. The university mainly consist of White and Asian students, which is one reason why I would not apply to Stony Brook. Overall I liked the college because it is clean and seems to have more than enough resources for their students.
